Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities in terms of gender differences. This type of descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were one male student and one female student in class VIIIF SMP N 1 BENDOSARI Sukoharjo. Data were collected through tests and interviews. The data validity used triangulation technique. Analysis of the data used in this study using the flow method which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed: (1) In question no 1, SL and SP were able to make logical conclusions. SL is able to predict the answer and the completion process, while the SP has not been able to predict the answer and the completion process. SP and SL are able to present an explanation orally and in writing. (2) In question no 2, SL and SP are able to display mathematical explanations orally, in writing, and in pictures. SL has not been able to compile proof of the reality of a question, has not been able to make logical conclusions. While SP is able to compile proof of the reality of a statement, and is able to make logical conclusions. (3) In question number 3, SL and SP have not been able to present a mathematical explanation in writing, but are able to mention it orally. SL and SP are able to use relationship patterns to assess circumstances, or build analogies, and make conjectures. SL and SP have not been able to make logical conclusions.
