Abstract

This research rigorously examines the efficacy of the inquiry-based learning approach within the context
of fourth-grade social studies instruction at SDN Gintungkerta III. Acknowledging the prevalent issue of
limited student engagement in traditional pedagogical settings, the study employs a quantitative
experimental design. The methodology involves a comparative analysis of learning outcomes between
student cohorts instructed via the inquiry method and those receiving instruction through the lecture
method. The findings of the investigation reveal that the implementation of the inquiry method yields a
statistically significant enhancement in both learning outcomes and the degree of student participation.
Furthermore, this pedagogical strategy cultivates critical thinking capabilities and facilitates the
connection of academic content to students' lived experiences. In conclusion, the research posits that
the inquiry method constitutes a demonstrably valuable instructional intervention for the advancement
of social studies education within the elementary school environment.
