Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of the use of animated video media on the storytelling ability of grade III students at SD Negeri 1 Gandasoli. This study uses a quantitative research method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample in this study is grade III students consisting of two classes, namely class IIIA and class IIIB, with Purposive Sampling Technique. The research instrument used in measuring students' storytelling ability is in the form of an oral test. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistical tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests using 2 t-tests (Independent Sample t-Test and Paired Sample t-Test), and effect size tests. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 54.96. Meanwhile, the average posttest score of the control class was 38.68. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the Sig. value was < 0.001 < 0.05, which means that there was a significant difference between the results of the posttest of the experimental class and the control class. To determine the effectiveness of animated video media, researchers used the Effect Size test. With the effect size test result of 1.79, which is included in the large effect category based on Cohen's criterion d. This shows that animation video media is effectively used to improve the storytelling ability of third grade students of SD Negeri 1 Gandasoli.
