PENGARUH BODY IMAGE TERHADAP KEPERCAYAAN DIRI SISWA SMA SRIJAYA NEGARA PALEMBANG

Adolescents often experience pressure related to body image due to the influence of social media and peer environments, which can impact their level of self-confidence. This study aims to determine the effect of body image on the self-confide.nce of senior high school students. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method, involving 84 tenth and eleventh-grade students selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments included validated and reliable body image and self-confidence scales. Data were analyzed using normality tests, linearity tests, simple linear regression analysis, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results showed a significant and linear relationship between body image and self-confidence, with an F-test significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.184, indicating that 18.4% of the variance in self-confidence is influenced by body image. Most students had moderate levels of body image and self-confidence, reflecting a realistic acceptance of their physical condition although still influenced by social standards. This study highlights the importance of school interventions in fostering positive body image to enhance students’ self-confidence.
