Abstrak

This study was conducted to analyze the role of communication of guidance and counseling teachers in forming positive perceptions of class X students at SMA Negeri 17 Samarinda. Communication influences a person's perception based on the experience gained. Poor communication relationships lead to negative perceptions of students, and disrupt guidance and counseling services in schools. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that effective communication increases students' trust in teachers, reduces negative perceptions of students, and creates comfort when interacting. Guidance and counseling teachers who are ableto show empathy, provide support and openness will significantly influence students' perceptions. This study shows the importance of effective communication in supporting the success of guidance and counseling services in schools.
