Abstract

English communication skills are a crucial aspect in equipping the younger generation to face global challenges. However, elementary school students in suburban areas often face limited access to adequate foreign language education, both in terms of teaching resources and practical environments. This community service program, implemented in the form of an English for Daily Communication workshop for elementary school students in the suburban areas of Cimahi, aimed to build students' confidence in using English in everyday life. The training approach focused on communicative methods, interactive games, and hands-on practice based on the students' social contexts. Based on communicative language teaching (CLT) theory and the theory of self-efficacy in language learning (Bandura, 1997), the program measured outcomes through pre- and post-tests, as well as performance observations and student reflections. Results showed significant improvements in students' confidence in speaking English, their use of basic everyday vocabulary, and their motivation to learn. In conclusion, this workshop successfully fostered students' confidence in communicating in English contextually.
