Abstract

Students' socio-emotional issues are becoming increasingly complex, requiring teachers to possess the ability to identify these issues early and provide appropriate support within the school environment. This community service initiative aims to strengthen teachers' competence in recognizing signs of socio-emotional problems and developing support strategies through school-based guidance and counseling programs. The activities are grounded in the concepts of social-emotional learning (SEL) and a comprehensive guidance and counseling approach that emphasizes prevention, early identification, intervention, and collaboration among stakeholders. The program was implemented through training sessions, interactive discussions, case studies, problem-identification simulations, and practical exercises in formulating student support strategies. The results demonstrate an improvement in teachers' understanding and skills regarding the recognition of socio-emotional issue symptoms, the determination of initial responses, and the design of support tailored to students' needs. These findings align with evidence indicating that school-based SEL interventions can enhance social-emotional competence, behavior, peer relationships, and school functioning. The initiative is concluded to be effective in strengthening teachers' capacity as strategic partners in delivering preventive guidance and counseling services within schools.
