Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is a crucial competency, but the conventional Think Pair Share (TPS) model is not optimal in accommodating student participation due to the lack of cognitive guidance and interactive media support. This study aims to develop a digital-assisted TPS model to improve mathematical problem-solving ability and communicative character of elementary school students. The research method uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects involved 39 fifth-grade elementary school students. The research instruments included expert validation sheets, mathematical problem-solving essay tests, and communicative character observation sheets that have been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the development stage showed a feasibility percentage of 83.15%–89.26% with a very valid category. The implementation stage showed a significant increase (p < 0.05) in students' problem-solving ability and communicative character. It was concluded that the digital-based TPS model showed effectiveness in improving students' mathematical problem-solving ability and communicative character.
