Optimalisasi kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP kelas VII melalui implementasi pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education

This study was conducted in response to the low level of mathematical connection skills possessed by students. This study has the following objectives: 1) To test whether the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach produces superior students’s mathematical connection skills compared to conventional teaching; 2) To analyze student responses to the implementation of this RME approach. The research method used is the Mixed Method with a parallel convergent pattern. A total of 60 seventh-grade junior high school students became the subjects of this study, divided equally into experimental and control groups. The data analysis process involved two stages, namely: 1) Quantitative data analysis involved several statistical tests including normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests; 2) Meanwhile, qualitative data were processed or processed through triangulation techniques. The main findings of this study indicate that the RME approach significantly improves the achievement of students' mathematical connection skills compared to students who received conventional learning. In addition, student responses to the implementation of RME learning received positive results. Thus, this study concludes that the RME approach is an effective method for improving the mathematical connection skills of junior high school students.
