Abstract

This observation was conducted to prove the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the GeoGebra application on the mathematical critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Gunung Halu in the topic of linear equations. This analysis used a mixed method with a convergent parallel design, meaning that quantitative and qualitative data were collected simultaneously and then compared. The research subjects included 2 eighth-grade classes, namely the experimental class with 25 students and the control class with 23 students. Data were collected through tests of mathematical critical thinking skills and student response questionnaires. Quantitative analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests, while qualitative analysis was obtained from the questionnaire results. The results of this study indicate that the use of the PBL model assisted by GeoGebra improves students' mathematical critical thinking skills compared to the classical method. In addition, students provided responses In addition, students gave positive feedback on the application of the model. Thus, the GeoGebra-assisted PBL model successfully improved students' mathematical critical thinking skills.
