Conflict of Interest Policy
Conflict of Interest Policy
A conflict of interest arises when financial, professional, or personal relationships have the potential to improperly influence the conduct of research, the evaluation of manuscripts, or editorial decision-making. JPMI (Jurnal Pembelajaran Matematika Inovatif) requires all parties involved in the publication process to disclose relevant conflicts of interest to maintain the objectivity, transparency, and integrity of scholarly publishing.
1. Authors
Authors are required to comply with the following provisions.
-
Every manuscript must include a Declaration of Competing Interests statement before the References section. If no conflicts of interest exist, the authors must include the following statement: “The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.”
-
Authors must disclose all sources of research funding, including grant numbers where available, and explain the funders' roles in the study design, data collection, data analysis, and the decision to publish the research findings.
-
Authors must disclose any employment relationships, consultancies, commercial interests, or other relevant relationships involving the products, programs, media, or instructional materials evaluated in the research.
2. Reviewers
Reviewers must decline an invitation to review or promptly notify the editor if any circumstances may give rise to a conflict of interest, including but not limited to the following:
-
The reviewer is affiliated with the same institution as one of the authors.
-
The reviewer has co-authored an article with one of the authors within the past three years.
-
The reviewer has a family relationship, an academic supervisory relationship, or a close personal relationship with one of the authors.
-
The reviewer has financial interests or involvement in other research that could potentially compromise the objectivity of the manuscript review.
The editor will consider the disclosed information when determining the reviewer's eligibility and will take appropriate action to safeguard the independence of the peer-review process.
3. Editors
Editors must maintain independence and objectivity in editorial decision-making in accordance with the following provisions.
-
Editors must not handle manuscripts when a relevant conflict of interest exists, including the circumstances described in this policy. The handling of such manuscripts will be reassigned to another independent editor.
-
Manuscripts authored or submitted by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the editorial board must be handled by an independent editor. Editors who are authors must not participate in editorial decision-making concerning their own manuscripts or have access to confidential peer-review proceedings, except for information necessary to fulfill their responsibilities as authors.
-
Editorial decisions must be based on scientific quality, relevance, and the outcomes of the peer-review process, and must be free from undue influence by the publisher or commercial interests.
4. Handling Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest
If a relevant conflict of interest is discovered only after a manuscript has been published or at another stage of the publication process, JPMI will investigate the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with its applicable publication ethics policies. If evidence of research or publication misconduct is identified, the case will be handled in accordance with the Research Misconduct Policy and JPMI's applicable article correction and retraction policies.
